Fire caused $150,000 damage to a vacant home up for sale in Stittsville in Ottawa’s west-end
The flames broke out in the basement area of the bungalow at 1686 Stittsville Main Street before 4 a.m. Thursday, Ottawa Fire Services reported.
The fire climbed the walls, spread to the attic, and by the time firefighters arrived, the roof was fully involved.
Firefighters searched the burning building and found no one inside.
They had the blaze under control before 5 a.m.
There were few contents inside, so damage was exclusively to the building itself, firefighters reported.
They suspect the fire was started by an electrical problem. However, as of Thursday morning, the cause had not been confirmed.
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom house was listed for sale on the MLS website for $239,900.
